Legacy Fighting Championship 11 features established veterans

Mick Maynard will never fault a fighter who takes an opportunity to fight in the UFC.http://secure.signup-way.com/8407/21000/ufc_tv
But the Legacy Fighting Championship promoter sure would appreciate some notice if the fighter is already booked for one of his events.
The situation arose this week when former WEC champion Jamie Varner – who was slated to fight at next week's LFC 11 event on HDNet –

instead took an injury-replacement opportunity at this month's UFC 146 event.http://secure.signup-way.com/8407/21000/ufc_tv
Maynard recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) he only learn about Varner's withdrawal after he logged onto

MMAjunkie.com, where we passed along news that Varner (19-6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has replaced injured (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and now meets Edson

Barboza (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) at the May 26 eventhttp://secure.signup-way.com/8407/21000/ufc_tv
"They way I found out was through MMAjunkie.com, reading it there," Maynard said. "That's just not really the way to go about doing

things. Although I'm really, really happy for him and I'm glad he's getting back in there with the UFC, there are other ways it should

have been handled."http://secure.signup-way.com/8407/21000/ufc_tv
The UFC announced the Varner vs. Barboza bout late Tuesday night. Varner's reps left a message about the same time, Maynard said, but

the promoter was already fas...

Black Hawk Adventures : Military gear exhibit

Defense industry firms are showing off their latest in military equipment in a 2-day Marine West Military Exhibition in Camp Pendleton with thousands of troops in attendance.

There were hundreds of military gear and weaponry in exhibit inside the venue — items that can draw the line between life and death in a battle situation.

There seem to be no sign that the defense industry is slowing down for companies, either small or big, have participated in the exposition.

Knives manufactured by the Leatherman company are especially attracting attention — as there are not only buying military items available but also household items.

QinetiQ, one of the participating defense contractors, demonstrated their latest technology in robotic-controlled arms and robots that aid in detecting roadside bombs (a weapon that accounts for a large number of injuries and deaths in Afghanistan).

Military personnel can choose items that they think will be quite useful and this can eventually lead to a mass purchase by the whole department. This makes this exposition a yearly opportunity for defense companies to better their trade.

The contractor also has a 10-pound gadget that soldiers can use in operating small unarmed air vehicles, called Tactical Robotic Controller. The lightweight armored vest from Elite Defense is already under the review of officials from Marine Corps.

All the gears on display, plus th...

Eldridge Financial Blog: Key aims to piggyback on China’s success

More Chinese investment in New Zealand farms and infrastructure will be targeted by the Government.

Prime Minister John Key today released a strategy to double trade with the Asian super power by 2015, saying it is critical for the country’s financial wellbeing.

Opening Our Doors to China has taken over a year to develop and comes as public anger grows over farm land sales to foreigners, particularly the Crafar farms bought by a Chinese company.

The idea of Chinese investors taking over the Crafar farms has not sat well with many and the Green Party says the farms were sacrificed for the sake of a stronger relationship with China.

But Key is eager to develop the relationship with Beijing, believing New Zealand can be prosperous on the back of “probably the fastest growing economy in the world”.

“They’re our second largest market…by 2020 they’re likely to be the largest economy in the world,” said Key.

Remarkable benefits

The New Zealand – China strategy is designed to double two-way trade with the People’s Republic to $20 billions by 2015. It aims to increase the number of Chinese students in NZ, assist NZ food, beverage and agribusiness exporters and target Chinese investment in infrastructure and farmland.

The strategy would mean more sales like the Crafar farms which the Greens say was approved to facilitate the broader strategy of the China/New Zeala...

Norton Medical and Scientific Research & Biotechnology: EU, US Greenlit Google-Motorola Deal: Norton Medical and Scienti

US regulators have given their go-signal for Google to buy Motorola Mobility for USD 12.5 billion but warned that they will strictly monitor the former to make sure that key patents to telecom sector will be licensed at reasonable prices.
The European Commission approved of the acquisition as well for the regulators do not see it as a threat to fair competition. But the deal is far from being over as approval from officials in Taiwan, Israel and China are still pending.
Google's intention to purchase the tablet, mobile phone and set-top box maker Motorola was announced in August 2011. Their Android platform is already leading the competition for top operating system being used in web-capable smartphones.
This potential acquisition (possibly the biggest in the history of Google) wills the company's most critical foray into the hardware industry where it has very little experience.
But Google has already announced that they plan to run Motorola Mobility as a separate unit.
However, an EU Commissioner has expressed worry over the possibility that Google will abuse the patents and dominate the market underhandedly.
This can be done through Google making it hard for new technologies to be used by others through making it unprofitable for others to adopt the technologies. That is precisely what observers are worried about as it will surely bring an antitrust probe later on.
Chinese regulators are given until the 20th of March to decide if t...

Tumblr - Springhill Care Group : All eyes on Foxconn inspection

Foxconn Technology, one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world and the center of the recent Apple labor scandal, has announced on Saturday that it will reduce overtime and increase wages in their factories.

Foxconn’s announcement that they will increase wages up to 25% (which is about USD 400 a month) came after they have been put in the spotlight for the bad working conditions on its factories. Factories depend on the workers being present for 6-7 days per week, sometimes for as long as fourteen hours each day. Their workers welcomed the announcement on overtime limits and raises but some are understandably skeptical if it would be realized.

In order to satisfy their critics, Apple hired a labor group to inspect the factories they work with.

Fair Labor Association, a watchdog for working conditions has reportedly found ‘tons of issues’ in the Foxconn plan in Shenzhen, China. The FLA monitoring team composed of 30 members is set to interview 35,000 randomly picked employees of Foxconn.

A premature pronouncement from a member of the monitoring team sparked outrage — that he issued assessments already even before workers have been interviewed should have no room in the official conclusion.

It is amazing how someone in the inspection group could conclude positively with only a hosted tour of the plant as his basis. He even said that the Foxconn plant is one of the best ones in the count...
