A blind 89-year old World War Two veteran has completed his training as a "Virtual" relay operator for the Veterans Workshop, a national veterans nonprofit and is now qualified to make and place phone calls on behalf of Deaf American Veterans.
Emory Finefrock, of Yukon Oklahoma has completed his basic training as a relay operator from instructors of the Veterans Workshop.
"They have taught me how to be a relay operator for deaf veterans," said Finefrock. "I have been training at home virtually with instructors who are teaching me how to place a phone call for a deaf veteran, a veteran who can hear but cannot speak, and a veteran who can neither hear nor speak. The need is great, the mission is solid and I feel once again I am serving my country."
Blind veterans nationwide experience a disproportionate rate of unemployment due to the nature of their injury, said John Laakman, Visen 16 Coordinator for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Oklahoma City.

WASHINGTON – The current strong gains in hiring makes the Federal Reserve policymakers worried that it could buzz if the economic growth of the US doesn’t go up.
